Building a house involves choices as to the insulation technique to choose. The goal is always to reduce heating and air conditioning costs. A significant portion of heat loss and heat gain is attributable to windows. The thermal capacity of the window will be decisive in achieving an energy saving objective.

THE U VALUE AS A THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY COEFFICIENT
Good windows should have a coefficient of thermal conductivity of the lowest U symbol [W / m 2K]. The lower value of the U coefficient results in less heat loss through the windows. Heat is most often lost by the weaker part of the system. A weak link in the window is the frame (the profile).
Glass is also a factor that influences heat loss. Windows that retain heat well have a Ug value = 1.0 W / m 2K or less: SUPERthermo glass Ug = 0.5 W / m 2K .
